Creating Happier Families!Therapy for children
Sarah Weaver BSc, MIAEBP, is a Cheltenham-based Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. Sarah is a fully qualified member of the IAEBP (International Association for Evidence Based Psychotherapy). With ten years’ experience in working with children and adolescents, Sarah is highly skilled in building rapport with young people and in supporting them and their families to make positive changes. With her warm and caring personality Sarah strives to make the sessions relaxing and enjoyable.
As a mother of two, Sarah has first-hand knowledge of the challenges of parenthood; it’s the most demanding job in the world. There is no other time in life when emotions are felt as strongly as they are in childhood. The very complex nature of growing up can sometimes create an obstacle within a child’s development that the parents and child may feel very helpless to overcoming.
Sarah can help to overcome these difficulties using a combination of gentle hypnosis and mindset coaching. Sarah is passionate about helping children and parents to see that their problems and difficulties are not fixed and that change is absolutely possible. Sarah has spent several years studying what gives people a ‘psychological edge’ in life, i.e. what helps people thrive rather than just survive. She is not only committed to applying this to her own life and children, but she is dedicated to teaching these insights and tools to other families too. Sarah finds it especially rewarding to work with young people, as well as empowering their parents, as this sets up a solid foundation upon which children can flourish throughout the rest of their lives. Sarah believes there is no better investment than in a child’s happiness!
Based on your child’s needs Sarah will tailor-make a course of weekly sessions that will empower your child to make changes to the way they feel, behave and react in life. She will gently challenge them so that they are able to push themselves out of their comfort zone and start building their resilience and self-belief to new levels. Sarah’s aim is to give children simple yet effective tools that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Sarah will often begin the course with a very powerful method, called The Blow-Away Technique. This is an extremly safe and effective treatment that uses very gentle hypnosis to enable the child to move on from negative experiences and emotions which may have been holding them back in some way. It’s a bit like a spring clean for the mind and the parents often enjoy participating in this relaxing and empowering session too!
Sarah’s aim is for your child to be better equipped to deal with anything that may feel emotionally overwhelming in the future and to improve the emotional well-being for a happier, less anxious child.
Support For Parents
Sarah will usually recommend that the parents come for a one off session on their own in addition to the child’s sessions, or possibly a course of sessions depending on the difficulties experienced with their child. This will give you some insights and tools that you can apply at home. The wonderful thing is that this will not only teach you how best YOU can support your child in getting over their difficulties, but will also teach you how to help your children develop this ‘psychological edge’ in life and to be the best that they can be. As parents we would all agree that our children’s happiness and success is the most importantly thing to us, but sometimes it can feel hard to know how best WE can help them. Sarah aims to equip you with a fresh perspective and actionable tools that you can immediately start applying to your parenting.

What Sarah Can’t help with:
Sarah does not recommend her sessions for children with complex psychological needs or disorders that require a more specialist approach. Sarah would also not recommend her sessions if there are currently significant issues within the family unit, such as a recent separation and would recommend you seek more specialist family intervention first.
It is important to note that there is no quick-fix to achieving a happier, calmer, more empowered way of living and these sessions will be less effective if you or your child are not actively engaging in everything learnt. Rest assured however that long lasting change is very much possible and is available to all who are ready to put in the effort and work hard! It would give me great pleasure to take you and your child on that journey…
How long will it take?
Sarah will recommend a course of sessions and the duration largely depends on your goals and the difficulties experienced. All children will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian/responsible adult throughout the session.
Emotions are powerful; help your child to grow and flourish with Sarah Weaver.
